One of the most popular anthologies of poetry in Japan is "Man' yoshu (The Collection of a Myriad Leaves)" compiled in the eighth century, which consists of about 4,500 poems including poems of emperors or noble people and songs of unknown farmers or soldiers.　日本で最 も好まれている詩撰集の一つが、八世紀に編纂された「万葉集」で、ここには天皇や貴族の詩から無名の農民や兵士の歌まで、 約四千五百の詩が収められている。
