四月
　　In Japan, most schools, including colleges and universities hold entrance ceremonies in April.　日本では、大学や短大も含めて大部分の 学校は、四月に入学式を行います。

　　The English word April is from Aprilis which was used as the name of the next month of Martius (March) in the ancient Roman calendar.　英語のAprilは、古代ローマ暦でMartius（March）の次の月の名前として使われていた Aprilis から来ている。
　　There are some different ideas on the etymology of Aprilis. One of them is that Aprilis comes from the Latin word aperire, “to open”, because the month is the time for trees to “open” their flowers.　Aprilisの語源については幾つかの説が ある。その中の一つは、「開ける」という意味のラテン語 aperire から来ていて、それはこの月が、木々がその花を「開ける」ときだからというものである。
　　According to this opinion, April, aperture and aperitif are the words of the same origin.　この説に従う なら、April (四月)、aperture (開き口)、aperitif (食前酒) は同じ語源の言葉ということになる。

　　On April first every year, childhood memories come back to me. My mother had a special talent for making an April Fool of her kids.　毎年 ４月１日には、子供時代の思い出がよみがえる。母は子供たちをエイプリルフールでかつぐことに特別の才能を持っていた。
　　On a Sunday morning, for instance, we were sleeping in bed until Mother woke us up. Mom came to our beds shouting “Get up, Get up! Santa Clause is coming to our town!
