格言
　　You should follow the precept, "Write what you know," because you are most convincing when you write about the things you know.　「知っていることを書け」という格言に従うのが良い。ひとが最も説得力を発揮できるのは、解っていることについて書く時なのだから。

原則
　　We should practice the precept, "Think globally, but act locally," to preserve our environment.　環境を守るためには、「地球的視野で考えて、地域的に行動せよ」の原則を実践するべきです。

教え
　　The priest said it was not necessary for a Buddhist to be a vegetarian. According to him, eating meat and fish is not breaking the Buddha's precept, "Do not kill."　その僧侶は、仏教徒が菜食主義者になる必要はないと言った。彼に よれば、肉や魚を食べることは、「殺生をするな」という仏陀の教えを破ることにはならないという。
